About Us page
With a passion for great wine and company, Barnstormer Winery embodies these ideals. Located in a historic barn with roots stemming back to the early 1800′s, we have made significant renovations to preserve the integrity and atmosphere of this Seneca Lake gem. This property is no stranger to housing wineries. The original winery in Schuyler County (Giasi) was housed here starting back in the 1970′s all the way until Arcadian Estate Winery was purchased and replaced with Barnstormer Winery. With a heavy concentration on Vinifera (European) wines, we have an even narrowed focused on high quality Rieslings and dry red wines.
We are currently working on our 2016 vintage with some new releases slated for May of 2017! Be sure to grab a bottle of something you enjoy next time you visit our tasting room. As a small batch winery of nearly 2500 cases annually, we only sell our wines at this location. There is always something fun going on at Barnstormer Winery so whether so you stopping by for a wine tasting or spending an afternoon to relax with a glass of wine, we will have something for you to enjoy. Check out our seasonal Winter & Summer Concert Series as well by clicking on the Events Tab, above.
Proprietor Scott Bronstein, while growing up in Syracuse, New York, moved to Napa Valley in pursuit of a career in the wine business. After spending some time working events and hospitality for Castello di Amorosa Winery in Napa, Scott was ready to venture out on his own. The Finger Lakes, as it does with many, drew Scott back to his home state where he began work on Barnstormer Winery in 2012 while finally opening in the Fall of 2013. With a focus on low production, high quality wines, Scott hopes to keep this model well into the future while building on the customer experience and developing the 16 acres of estate property into vineyards, a secondary production facility and events venue. You can often find him in the tasting room pouring and chatting with guests or working on the property grounds on sunny days.
Tasting Room Manager Kyle Knapton pursued his wine passion after a five year career in teaching music. Kyle is also WSET2 certified and this shows in his educational style of wine tasting. Kyle is often behind the tasting bar so be sure to ask any questions you may have and say hello!
