About Us page
With a passion for great wine and company, Barnstormer Winery embodies these ideals. Located in a historic barn with roots stemming back to the early 1800′s, we have made significant renovations to preserve the integrity and atmosphere of this Seneca Lake gem. This property is no stranger to housing wineries. The original winery in Schuyler County (Giasi) was housed here starting back in the 1970′s all the way until Arcadian Estate Winery was purchased and replaced with Barnstormer Winery. With a heavy concentration on Vinifera (European) wines, we have an even narrowed focused on high quality Rieslings and dry red wines.
We are currently working on our 2017 vintage with many of those wines set to be released this coming spring! Be sure to grab a bottle of something you enjoy next time you visit our tasting room. As a small batch winery of roughly 2500 cases annually, we only sell our wines at this location. There is always something fun going on at Barnstormer Winery so whether so you stopping by for a wine tasting or spending an afternoon to relax with a glass of wine, we will have something for you to enjoy. Check out our seasonal Summer Concert Series as well by clicking on the Events Tab, above.
Proprietor Scott Bronstein, while growing up in Syracuse, New York, moved to Napa Valley in pursuit of a career in the wine business. After spending some time working events and hospitality for Castello di Amorosa Winery in Napa, Scott was ready to venture out on his own. The Finger Lakes, as it does with many, drew Scott back to his home state where he began work on Barnstormer Winery in 2012 while finally opening in the Fall of 2013. With a focus on low production, high quality wines, Scott will keep this model well into the future while building on the customer experience and developing the 16 acres of estate property into vineyards, a secondary production facility and events venue. You can often find him around the tasting room chatting with guests or working on the property grounds.
General Manager, Kyle Knapton, has been pursuing his passion for wine for the past five years after a short career in teaching music. Kyle enjoys the educational aspect of wine tasting with his WSET-2 certification, and his friendly approach to learning about Finger Lakes wines. Kyle is presently pursuing his WSET-3 certification. Kyle has been the Tasting Room Manager for the past 4 years, since the opening of the winery in 2013, assisting in the development and growth of the brand and now holds the title of General Manager. Kyle can be found in many aspects of the winery from the cellar to the tasting bar, but is always happy to help and answer questions, so be sure to say, “Hello.”
